Summer Camp
CYI’s Summer Camp 2010!
On July 23 we wrapped up a great nine weeks of summer camp for 35 students! Although almost nothing went as planned, this summer ended up being one of the best summer camps we have had so far! From churches canceling to lack of transportation, the theme this summer seemed to be God’s Sovereignty and provision in the midst of what seemed to be, from my perspective, chaos.
A big THANK YOU to the following churches who hosted or sponsored a week of camp this summer: Tabernacle Baptist, First United Methodist, Roopville Road Baptist, King’s Chapel Presbyterian, Christ Fellowship, Glenloch Baptist, and God’s Farm. An even bigger THANK YOU to the great group of counselors and volunteers who poured their lives into the CYI youth this summer: Sarah Clarke, Lauren Files, Anna Jones, Meghan Sorrells, Rhett Fast, and Valerie Heine.
Thank you!

About Our Summer Camp
Carrollton Youth Impact’s Summer Camp is an eight week long program in which youth participate in fun activities, “educational hour”, Bible studies, field trips, and a lot of swimming! For five weeks, five local churches host the summer camp- providing activities, lunch, and field trips. We also attend God’s Farm Day Camp and God’s Farm Overnight Camp for two weeks out of the summer and also hold our Mentorship Week during the summer.
Educational Hour
We are excited to introduce the “educational hour” to our summer camp this year. Statistics show that students who continue to read, write, and use math skills during the summer stay at or improve the reading and math level they were on at the time of getting out of school. Whereas, those students who do not read, write and use math skills have to work at reaching the level they were previously at once they return to school the next fall.
Therefore, for one hour of each summer camp day we will be encouraging and improving our students reading, writing and math skills. |
